Summit Energy Services, Inc. seeks a Director of International Renewable Energy and Carbon Advisory in Boulder, CO.


Job Description: Responsible for leading the growth of the cleantech business in markets outside of the USA and for growing and managing our business development teams in Europe and South America. Leads or supports sales of renewable energy advisory services to large organizations inside and outside the US, with a particular emphasis in bringing new prospects to the business via a strong network of sustainability and energy contacts, and supporting colleagues within and beyond the team in negotiations with senior stakeholders in client and prospect organizations. Responsible for analyzing energy markets around the world to understand what emerging policies and regulations are in place to enable large scale, long-term, high value and complex renewable energy transactions, typically known as PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) between multinational corporations and international or market-specific renewable energy project developers. Included in evaluation of strategic partnership opportunities that may also involve potential for acquisition. Manage the company’s European and South American sales efforts related to EACs (Environmental Attribute Certificates) and project performance services related to operational renewable energy projects with which Schneider’s clients have signed 10-15- year PPAs and provide significant support to teams across Asia selling similar services. Develop the company’s advisory offer, work with internal stakeholders to create appropriate materials (advisory contracts, sales materials, presentations and other materials as appropriate) and support sales staff around the world (particularly in USA, Europe, South America, SE Asia, India and Australia) to sell Schneider’s services. Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders around the world, typically at Director level or above, outside of the cleantech and renewables team in order to leverage their knowledge of markets and to encourage the cross-selling of cleantech services by other teams. Utilize numerous skills in day-to day role including sales and contract negotiation, coaching, offer development, forecasting, regular use of Excel for various functions including price-setting, scenario planning and internal accounting. Serve as an expert on the nuances of large scare renewable energy procurement in all major markets in Europe, and large emerging markets in South America, Asia and elsewhere. Use research skills to understand and evaluate global energy markets and communicate the outcomes to various colleagues and clients. Telecommuting 1-2 days per week. Travel Requirements: 25-50% travel is required for management of personnel across Europe and South America, close collaboration with colleagues across Asia and liaison with clients in all parts of the world.

Qualifications:

Requirements: This position requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business, Environmental Engineering, Environment and Sustainability or a related field, plus 8 years of experience in sales and environmental sustainability, global energy markets and carbon mitigation or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience with: (1) Environmental sustainability, carbon and renewable energy markets experience outside of the US; (2) Renewable energy and carbon markets outside of the USA with experience gained through work within non-US markets, with knowledge of all major European, Asian and Brazilian electricity markets; (3) Selling renewable energy and carbon reduction products and services (with a particular focus on long term renewable PPA (Power Purchase Agreements) consulting services and environmental commodities) to the world's largest corporations; (4)

Negotiating complex renewable energy advisory service and carbon reduction product contracts with senior personnel, including C-Suite, in large client organizations globally; (5) Working closely with support functions such as legal, marketing and finance; (6) Creating and implementing strategies to enable business growth in fast-paced emerging markets and product areas; (7) Subject matter experience related to PPAs in markets across South America, Europe and Asia, including an understanding of the nuances and differences between such contracts in different markets; (8) Understanding of carbon markets and associated carbon credit standards and instruments in markets globally; (9) Growing and managing businesses, with a focus on developing and implementing new systems, products and services in markets outside the US; (10) Growing and managing a diverse team of professionals based in various locations

globally; and (11) Presenting at large and/or high profile conferences and events, as well as on-line webinars and other fora, on subjects such as market-based carbon emission reduction methods, renewable energy purchasing opportunities and energy management tools.


Salary Range: $218,650 - $229,582/yr. The U.S. compensation range named above for this full-time position, includes base pay and short-term incentive, is for candidates located within the U.S. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
